Annie B Vintage - at Gorgeous Gerties
My venture Annie B Vintage began out of a love of collecting vintage things, from the unusual and kitsch to the dainty and pretty. There is such a richness of wonders showing how the talented British crafts people have been over the past 100 years and it is their stories that I also find so fascinating. I love the idea of using vintage things in our everyday lives and giving them as gifts.
Together with a love of a good rummage around fairs and auctions it’s been easy to fill my house!
When I left my job in marketing a few years ago I started to sell some of my collection at vintage fairs and continued to hunt for more lovelies to sell! I also started to upcycle small pieces of furniture that need rescuing from a life of orange varnish or dull brown woodwork.
Since then I have rented space at a couple of permanent locations, one being at Gorgeous Gerties in Dorking. When Tracey and Debbie opened last year I thought how wonderful it would be to be a part of their new venture and now my stall is upstairs on the first floor front section packed full of goodies to adorn your home.
What you will find on my stall is all kind of pretty things ideal for a perfect tea, from vintage bone china tea sets, teapots, jugs, bowls, tea plates, cake plates, cups and saucers and trios too. There is cutlery including tea knives and tea spoons and a range of lovely glassware from glasses to bowls, cakes stands and jugs.
I love old linen especially embroidered tablecloths and a range of these are usually hanging on an old wooden airer. I always have interesting crafting items from books to knitting needles and sewing paraphernalia. Items of Kitchenalia are on display including old weighing scales and other cooking utensils.
For children there are old toys, pictures and books. Small items of furniture will often be available including painted shelves, cupboards, stools, chairs and wicker ottomans. At Christmas I have a wide range of vintage Christmas decorations which are so sweet and decorative and my of kitsch will mean that you will often find a small fauna animal vase/jug or two on display… I can’t help it… I love them!
Come and take a look at Annie B Vintage - you never know what you might find……
